A Very Oily Birthing Story

So my mum is a health nut. Well, not a nut, but she knows way more about natural health type stuff than I think I could ever learn in my lifetime! Some of it goes right over my head, and to be honest, for the longest time the Young Living Essential Oils were among those "over my head" things my mum kept trying to tell me about. But she was very patient with me and would just offer me an oil for this or an oil for that when she saw I needed it. During finals when I complained about not being able to focus on studying she would bring me some fruit to eat and Lemon Oil. When I would wake up with a tummy ache (which happened much too often!!) she would bring me Peppermint oil. When I got a paper cut she would bring me Lavender oil... and when I got ill she would bring me Thieves oil. So little by little through my teenage years she would introduce me to these Essential oils. But it wasn't until I was pregnant with our first baby (am currently pregnant with our second) that I realized how much I knew about and trusted the Young Living Essential Oils. Me and my husband decided to do a home birth, use a birthing pool, no gass and air, no needles, just as natural a birth as we could. But I didn't want to do it without using the essential oils. So I asked my mum to be there as the oil expert to help my enthusiastic husband apply the right oils at the right time.

For about 3 weeks before the due date I used a special perineum blend to help prepare and prevent tearing. I used the Gentle Baby oil blend on my stomach and to breath in. And that's about it. ohh and I practiced breathing and positive thinking :D

When my water broke and I called mum she started advising me right away, through the phone. I put on a couple of oils and waited for the contractions to start. Everything went smoothly from then on out and it was AMAZING to feel how the oils affected me during labour. I could feel how some oils were not supposed to be used (oils with calming effect during active labor is a no go!!) and some oils, like Valour, were just what I needed through transition.

It is crazy to me that now, only 10 months later and 5 months pregnant (yes, I know, we are crazy!) while writing about my experience with the oils, I am excited about my next birth. I am so excited to do this again with the help of essential oils.

After the birth while I was recovering I completely trusted in the help the Essential oils can give. There was no tearing so recovery was about as good as it gets and I within a week of giving birth I was ready to do it again!! ... no, not really. But I was super thankful for having the oils.

It was because of years of good experiences with the oils and this very powerful experience that my husband and I decided we needed to sign up and get the oils and use them regularly. Something I don't think I will ever regret having done!! I love Young Living Essential Oils!!
